Our Background
Matthew G. Kaushagen, PE
Matt grew up farming in northern Minnesota. Machinery and mechanical things were a passion from a young age. A strong desire to understand how things work led to a degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. He started his career in Maintenance as a Supervisor at LTV Steel Mining Company, in Hoyt Lakes, MN, overseeing the maintenance of major mining machinery with a crew of mechanics, millwrights, and welders. He continued his career at mines in Michigan, and Wyoming, before moving to North Carolina in 2005. Over his 25+ years in mining, Matt has held positions of increasing responsibility in maintaining heavy mobile equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, scrapers, and loaders, as well as electric rope shovels and walking draglines, and slurry pumps and systems.
Matt obtained his Professional Engineering License in 2008. Seeing a need for onsite wastewater engineering in Carteret and Craven counties of NC, he formed Core Creek Engineering in 2022 to provide services to Eastern North Carolina, and beyond.
